Omnibus III

Omnibus III provides an introduction to Western literature from 1563 to 1994, spanning from the Reformation to the Postmodern era. Students will experience the Great Works of literature within this timeframe as well as read various analytical works on the dominant thoughts of each period (Reformation, Enlightenment, Modern, and Postmodern).

English 9

English 9 follows Memoria Press Classical Composition V (Common Topic) and VI (Encomium, Invective, and Comparison). Students practice writing focused moral arguments, then longer essays of praise, blame, and comparison, with a clear thesis and ordered development.

Logic 9

Material Logic is the logical and philosophical study of truth especially in the context of logical arguments. In this course, students will be taught to construct, deconstruct, and analyze truth claims and argument content.

Latin 9

Latin 9 continues Wheelock’s Latin through chapters 18–40 and finishes the core grammar of the language. Students add the remaining declensions and the full passive system, then take on the constructions that make real Latin readable: participles and the ablative absolute, infinitives and indirect statement, comparison of adjectives, and the subjunctive in purpose, result, cum, and conditional clauses, along with deponents, gerunds, and gerundives. Work is morphology, translation, and composition, with more and more time in connected passages. By year’s end students should be ready to begin intermediate authors.

Astronomy

Students in CDA astronomy will learn the history of astronomy, the basics of astronomical calculations (applied trigonometry), patterns of observation, the composition and habits of celestial bodies, and appreciation of the complexity of creation.

Algebra 1

This course develops foundational algebraic skills and explores equations, inequalities, functions, graphs, and mathematical relationships, using logical reasoning and problem-solving to build fluency in algebraic thinking and prepare students for more advanced mathematics.

Geometry

This course explores the properties, measurement, and relationships of points, lines, angles, and shapes, using logical proofs and coordinate geometry to develop spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.

History 9

Early Modern History provides a historical overview from the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks in 1453 to the fall of the French Monarchy in 1789 and the subsequent rise and fall of Napoleon Bonaparte. Students will especially research the dramatic changes in culture, thought, and religion during this time period.

Geography 9: Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas

Geography II: Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Oceania, & the Americas covers the areas of the world outside of the ancient Roman Empire. Each lesson includes physical features, history, and culture of these countries. When students complete Geography I and II, they will be able to map the world.

Logic of English -- A

This course combines phonics, spelling analysis, basic grammar, and introductory vocabulary or morphemes.

Classical Composition I

Students read short stories with a moral, outline what happens and why it matters, then retell each story in their own words. They practice vivid description, vary word choice and sentence structure, and learn to expand or tighten a narrative while keeping its meaning intact. The goal is clear, imaginative writing and a firm grasp of how stories work.

Traditional Spelling IV

Students practice hearing and spelling the main patterns of English: closed and open syllables; long-vowel and r-controlled teams; consonant blends and teams; silent letters; prefixes and suffixes; plurals and possessives; contractions; compound words; and homophones. They also apply the Double, Drop, and Change ending rules.

Lists go home on Day 1 for practice. The Friday test is twenty words plus one dictated sentence. Review weeks recycle words that were missed.

English Grammar Recitation II

This course trains students to know English grammar the way they know Latin forms: by reciting questions, answers, and examples until the terms are fluent. Over the year we review the parts of speech and the parts of the sentence, master the capitalization and punctuation style sheets, and learn the verb system Henle Latin needs—principal parts, the infinitive, participles, the six tenses, and progressive and emphatic forms. Short written exercises and some diagramming support the recitation; the recitation itself is the work of the class.

Literature 2-3

This course develops a love of literature through the reading and discussion of engaging stories and classic works, while building reading fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and the ability to respond thoughtfully to characters, themes, and ideas.

Literature 5: Exploration

In 5th Grade Literature, students will set sail on a year of great adventures through classic and historical literature. From the shores of Iceland to the jungles of the South Seas, from pirate-infested waters to an eighty-day journey around the globe, students will encounter characters who must make difficult choices, overcome danger, resist temptation, and learn what it means to live courageously and faithfully.

Literature 6

This course is a journey through history, from the ancient world to the modern era, using great stories, biographies, and historical accounts to examine what it means to live a good and faithful life.

As students encounter people facing war, injustice, suffering, temptation, leadership, sacrifice, and difficult choices, they will learn to read not only for what happens in a story, but for what a story reveals about the virtues of courage, faithfulness, justice, humility, perseverance, and love of neighbor.

Latin 5

Fifth Grade Latin strengthens the forms begun in the first year of Henle and builds the structures students need for simple Latin sentences. The course reviews noun declension, then adds adjective agreement, personal and reflexive pronouns, and the present system of the verb — present, imperfect, and future — across the four conjugations and the verb to be.

Students learn to match adjectives to nouns, to recognize case and person in a sentence, and to use sum with a predicate noun or adjective. Daily recitation of the charts is the core of the class; written work stays brief and supports what is said aloud.

Math 5

This course builds a strong foundation in mathematical reasoning through the study of whole-number operations, fractions, decimals, geometry, measurement, and problem-solving, emphasizing accuracy, logical thinking, and the ability to apply mathematical skills to increasingly complex situations.

This course develops strong mathematical foundations through the study of multiplication, division, fractions, measurement, geometry, and problem-solving, emphasizing mathematical reasoning, accuracy, and the ability to apply skills to increasingly complex problems.

Science 5

Join us as we do a deep dive into the Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day of Creation. In this course we will study the Birds, Flying Insects, Bats and even some dinosaurs. Throughout the course students will get hands on experience with observing the natural world the God has made. A strong emphasis will be on the ways creation points to the Creator as well as what God's word says about His Creation. This is a live class that will meet on Mondays and Thursdays at 8:05- 8:45am.

Science 2-3

Join us as we discover what kind of creatures God created on the Fifth Day! This course is designed to get students curious about the natural world. We will be looking at the characteristics of many different flying creatures. The course is designed to get younger children thinking about the natural world around them. Along the way students will learn what it means to be a scientist and some of the tools they use. We will also study many flying Creatures such as Bats, Birds, Flying Insects and even some dinosaurs! This is a live class that will be meeting on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:50am - 9:35am.

Geography: States and Capitals

This serves as a resource hub for 2nd grade Geography

History 5

History 5 uses the Veritas Press Explorers to 1815 curriculum. Students follow a chronological timeline of thirty-two key events from Prince Henry the Navigator and the Age of Exploration through the founding of America to the Missouri Compromise. Memory work, reading, and discussion trace how exploration, faith, and new nations reshaped the West.

Geography 5: Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East

In 5th Grade Geography, students will memorize and explore the cultures, physical features, historical landmarks and significance of Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. Through this course, students will build a strong geographic foundation that will support their study of history, culture, science, Christianity, and the world around them.

Bible: Genesis-Joshua

Students will study God’s Word from Creation to Joshua’s last words. In this hybrid School of Grammar class, campus and online students learn together through story, song, recitation, and review so they can memorize key events and verses and see how God keeps His promises.

Bible: The Gospels

Students will study the four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. They will learn 32 key events in the life of Christ, from the announcement of John the Baptist’s birth through the Ascension, through story, memory song, recitation, and review. In this hybrid School of Grammar class, campus and online students learn together so they can know who, what, when, and where in the Gospels and see how all of Scripture points to Jesus.
